Typescript copies of three letters from Richard Rowland to his sister in England; first letter (November 1840) concerns his impressions of American customs and manners, as well as his decision to stay longer in America; second and third letters (January 9 & April 1844) describe a pleasure trip from St. Louis, Missouri to the Rocky Mountains before returning to the East; traveled with Sir William Drummond and William L. Sublette.
